Google Maps API Key on localhost or intranet

Hi,

I know this has been discussed before but didn't find a solution in any
post. I have tried this on 2 different Win XP machines with 2 different
web servers (Apache and Tomcat) and many permutations of URLs to
request keys.

My html lives in a dir 'maps' in any context below, all attempts result
in an error message 'key registered for a different web site' when
following the pattern http://<tryme>:8080/maps/map.html. Non-map test
pages are served fine. <tryme> being one of these:

localhost / 127.0.0.1 / 192.168.24.77 (my IP) / lmn10996 (hostname)

The slash '/' behind 'maps' does not seem to make a difference when
generating the key.

Any help most appreciated.
