why dont you use php or asp to monitor how many times the page has been
called? basically you refer everyone to your .php or .asp extension.
then add server side redirct to the xml. Also, add a server side
counter to your php or asp file.

You will not be able to get analytics style data, but at least you know
how many are reading your xml.
