Since the getCenterLatLng() returns a point, you should be able to get
the coordinates separately by using the .x and .y forms:

var centerPoint = map.getCenterLatLng();

var x = centerPoint.x ;
var y = centerPoint.y ;

Haven't tested it, but this should work.
