Trouble Verifying Site

I am trying to verify my website but google sitemaps keeps saying that
it is unable to find the file. The file exists and the 404 status codes
seem to be OK. I can load the file from a browser by cutting and
pasting the filename google wants.

The server responses I have had are

>From what I've read in the last couple of days, google should be able
to verify the site. Any ideas why this isn't working.
