Well I would count on Gmail!  (lol, just kidding, but the tone of your email was funny the way you started it out).  I havent had any problems like that and you should dig a little deeper to see if the problem wasnt user error, instead of gmails error as you claim.

After my client alerted me asking where it was, I then used hotmail to
send the same attachment in less than 2mins which my client recieved
straight away.

I also had another problem with sending another attachment today and
I'm waiting to see how long it will take for Gmail to return as an
undelieverable. (My other client alerted me that they didn't recieve
anything and I had to use hotmail again).

So after these simple 2 problems with huge consequences - I'm cheesed
off! Gmail won't also send mail from the POP server - so its still not
reliable.
