Re: AdSense Technology vs. Googlebot Indexing Criteria
Hi Brent
I think you're on the right path, however, it will be very very hard to
get up on the search engines (Google certainly, the others possibly as
well). Keep in mind that the adsense bot is a different one than the
search engine bot - they don't talk to each other (I tested that, I
think many have).
There are lots of things you could be doing to get the attention of the
search engines. Getting good and many links should certainly be the
number one priority for you. Adwords helps get first-time visitors, you
should be able to lock them in, keep them coming back and referr their
friends to you (with links :-)). Perhaps offer them an incentive to
link to you or at least make it as easy as possible (with a "link to
me" page - similar to Sebastians
http://www.smart-it-consulting.com/link2us.htm?node=140 - which works
for all his pages). Other things are outlined in
http://www.seomoz.org/beginners.php - good reading. If you still can't
get indexed after lots of links (and some time... it always takes
time), then I would try some of the search-engine-specialized forums
(see the beginners guide for some links) and ask there.
When did you take over that domain name? On archive.org I see the old
contents up to 2003 but nothing afterwards. Was it really just
re-activated end of this September? If so, you might really just need
to wait a bit.
Just for your information, perhaps it is a fluke, but I have been
clicking around on your site for a while now and it responds very, very
sluggishly. The W3C validator wouldn't work either (times out), so I
don't think it's my connection.
Cheers
John
