Well this posting makes far more sense than the one you made in the
ajax-web-technology group (I had a reply there, but then decided there
were too many unanswered questions). It is still pretty unclear on
what you're trying to do though, because this "mixing of XML data
streams" all depends on what the data is and how it's being mixed. In
"mixing" it are you adding numerical elements together? appending text?
moving nodes around? combining nodes together? ... then after the
mixing has taken place what happens? the mixed XML is sent back to the
server and saved there?

I've written a couple AJAX apps that manage certain XML files on the
server, everything from shifting nodes, adding new ones, modifying and
deleting...

If you could elaborate on the Use-Cases that will be in place instead
of just the back-end components that may be needed, it might help us to
understand your problem better.
