Can you post a link to the xml? Can you open it with the browser?

I would suspect the problem is the character encoding, there has been
some discussion of these issues over the last month.

I'm not sure what the resolution was. I think you will need to use
iso-8859-1 encoding to make it work, instead of utf-8 (maybe you are
already). I played around with xml and iso-8859-1 encoding but
couldn't get it to work reliably (I ended up converting all the
non-standard characters to utf-8, but I would be interested in figuring
out why I couldn't get it to work).
