Re: over-indexed site, and numeric data
Helpfully, our URL's don't contain sessionID's or query strings. Our
scripts do use query strings, but these are handled by mod_rewrite
using .htaccess. So all of our URL's are simple, consistent, and
static-looking, and have been for a long time.
And no, I haven't seen the dreaded "supplemental" adjective in our
results... yet (knocks on wood).
I guess this is a problem for long and established sites, but it leads
to the site: result number being un-useful ... one cannot determine
what G has indexed (only get the first 1000 anyway) and the number, for
now, doesn't appear to drop toward a "normal" number.
This puts us at a disadvantage, clearly, to sites that do get an
accurate and recent number for the site: query.
But what about those numbers, anyway? Has there been any word on adding
numbers to the bar-charts shown in G.Sitemaps? Shoot, make 'em
clickable to show/hide like in G.Analytics, for all I care, just let me
have access and I'll be peachy.
Thanks for your opinions.
