Who told you or where did you read this? I have a pagerank script that
checks my site positions every time I load my administrator panel
(several times a day) for my domains, and my sites come up #1.
Furthermore, they've been there for almost three years. Checking your
pagerank won't negatively affect your position - I believe you're
mistaken.
