I guess the thing I'm missing is how exactly do you ping Google with
the sitemap URL?

I don't see any sort of automated way to let Google know about sitemap
URLs ... if there is, that would solve all my problems since I can just
have my service notify Google every time there's a new customer, and
thus, a new sitemap.
