Re: www vs non-www versions of a site (Google Sitemaps Blog)
First of all, remove all the double sitemap submissions. Removing a
sitemap submission has no impact on verification and access to stats.
Then read further.
The reason why your submissions were "pre-verified" is, that your
verification file is served from the same directory. If you had a
www.example.com/google...html file already, the URL
example.com/google...html points to the same file. The same goes for
your sitemaps and all other stuff on your domains. The setup is weird
BTW but that's not the point here.
As for the not yet verified sites, those are queued and will be
processed later on.
You don't need to submit a sitemap to view stats. That means, if you
have a verified site www.example.com and a sitemap submission of
www.example.com/sitemap.xml, you only need to verify example.com to get
access to the example.com stats. It works even without a sitemap BTW.
If you submit sitemaps under both host names --note that
www.example.com and example.com are different servers-- you'll end up
with duplicates.
