I would say it is because tab is normally used in a browser to move
from one (text) field or link to the next. This is standard browser
behavior. To change it for one app would be a little confusing.
I started with a little trepidation because Google has a way of
changing the rules. I'm still trying to figure out how they
programmed shortcut keys! The rules of Web 2.0 don't necessarily
comply with those of the past.
