When I installed it on my old laptop it has display issues, so i had to
re-install
when you boot from the disk and it has a prompt with installation
options i typed
"linux resolution= 1024x768"
without the quotation marks though
works fine now (probably goes without saying but you can type in any
resolution that your display can support)
might be worth a thought as a last resort
