I may be old fashioned, but I use a simple text editor, or pico
depending on where I am making changed. Works fine for me.

I use Mozilla with the Javascript console for basic testing and IE with
"show all javascript errors" switched on.

I see no need for anything else. Oh, a good brain is a handy item too!
