Goodness Yes.
I've been trying to delete a sitemap for over a week. I deleted the XML
page, then the pages on the site.
I've deleted everything but the domain from my server and still can't
get the dang thing out of
Google SiteMaps.

I did, however, solve the problem of unverified sites. I continued to
follow the Verify two-three clicks
and they verified.
