Re: Verify, Verify, Verify....
Blymer,
I don't know if this will help or not. But when I first tried to
verify my website I had the same problem as you. It turned out to be a
rather odd problem. I viewed your google........html file and yes it
shows up, then I tried to just do a 404 error on your website and I
noticed it auto-redirects. I too do the samet hing. However, when I
was attempting to verify this was causing a problem, don't ask me why.
I use Apache Web Server personally, with Virtual Servers to host
multiple websites. The setting up of the error documents for one
virtual server uses lines like this:
ErrorDocument 404 http://kendennis-rss.homeip.net/va.php?zz=sitemap
ErrorDocument 403 "Whoopsie Doodle. Sorry, Document was not found."
During the verification process I had to remove all the "personalized"
portions of the ErrorDocuments to the following:
ErrorDocument 404
ErrorDocument 403
Don't ask me why exactly, but the moment I did this, the verification
went through. Even though my valid file was there both before and
after (unchanged).
Additionally, I changed the lines back to normal after and it continued
to work just fine.
Best of luck,
Ken Dennis
