Can you tell us more what you want to do?

The Google Maps API is a Javascript based API that lets you put an
interective map onto a webpage. It includes displaying map tiles ONLY
to an end user.

Perhaps you are thinking of Geocoding or Routing or similar, which is
something that potentically could be a Web Service. Google does not
offer any service as part of the API (nor is it allowed to use any part
of Google Local), I suggest searching the web or better this group for
thouse terms if thats what you require.
