Re: What does Sitemaps really do anyways?

Hi Steve
give it some time and work on collecting unique content.

Google sitemaps will help with indexing your site ***IF*** Google is
already indexing your site. If Google is not interested in your sites
(I think I've seen those URLs before ;-)) then you need to first work
on getting Google interested. You know the game. If Google does not
want to index your site then using Sitemaps will not change a thing.

Personally, I think it does not make sense to use Google Sitemaps for a
site with less than say 500 URLs, if it is properly linked (on the
inside and from the outside). Google can find usually the changed / new
URLs within a day or a week, if your site has "value" according to
Google. If you have more than that many URLs then it certainly helps a
little bit more to get Google on the right track.

Cheers
John
