Remove one of the Map type buttons

Hi
I made a Custom Map on a low zoom level. Eventhoug there is satelite
data the map button give nothing.
Therefore I'd like to remove the Map and the Hybrid button to only leave
Sat and Custom.
is this allowed ?
I managed to do it like this which isn't so good looking :

var mp = new GMapTypeControl();
mp.buttons[0].div.style.display = "none";

does anybody know of a cleaner way of doing this, I found no post about it ?
