Suggestions for Google

I realize this is a beta program, and no doubt Google's already working
on most of this. But in case they aren't, I have some specific
suggestions.

Background: I'm the webmaster for www.ordoverproject.com, and created a
sitemap about a month ago. My sitemap was verified with no problems,
and it started getting crawled about a day after that. Within a week,
Google had indexed about 25 pages out of 92. I still get the message
"no data available" when I try to look at the stats, but yesterday
morning, for the first time, something new popped up in the http errors
section - a list of 10 links that resulted in 404's. I corrected all of
those about 3 hourse before Googlebot hit the site again.

OK, here's a couple of suggestions.
1) Remember back in the day when you used to get in voice mail and you
had no idea whether you'd be there for 5 seconds or 5 hours? Companies
quickly realized that in the absence of information, people tend to
assume the worst, so they started telling you approximately how long
the wait would be. I think the Sitemaps program needs something like
this, both for pending verifications and for when stats will be
available. Even if it's a crude average based on data with high
standard deviations, that's better than nothing. If I go to my sitemap
admin page and see a message like "No data avaialable: on the average,
indexing data is made available 64 days after the first verificaation
of your sitemap", I'll feel much more comfortable than thinking that
somehow Google just forgot about me.
2) The same sort of problem exists when errors are listed on one day;
then you correct them; then googlebot crawls your site; then you look
on the admin page and see exactly the same errors listed. It makes you
wonder what exactly is going on.
3) On some of our gallery pages, we are starting to use "hidden"
keywords. This is NOT to fool search engines; it is there for a
site-based search engine. It would be really nice to have a directive
similar to "rel=nofollow" for sections of text, so that googlebot
doesn't penalize you thinking you're up to something nefarious.

I hope the sitemap program works. But so far, the beta program has not
exactly been a gratifying experience.
