I had the same problem.
Turned out that it was 'cause i had some personalized error pages which
returned 200 OK, so that any page that isnt found, is "found" anywho.
That way, people other than you could take advantage of that, as they
would be able to add your site to their google sitemap index, and view
your stats.
Any URL, like the GOOGLEsomething.html file would be found on your
site, so it would validate for others aswell, which isnt good :)
So, check your error pages :)
