This problem has existed for a long time and I don't think it's any
worse now than it was before! It's just that more people are noticing
it and reporting it because it's important at this time of year. This
is the first Christmas that Froogle has existed in this format and more
people are using it now, which will add to the workload. We can argue
that Google should have anticipated this, but as you say - It's a free
product!
I would suggest that once your feed is showing OK that you don't upload
it more often than every three weeks, just to stop it expiring. In my
experience the problem occurs when you upload a feed, whether it's for
the first time or a subsequent upload. Froogle seems not to be able to
handle it without a delay. Then you make it worse when you think it
hasn't worked and we keep uploading.
I doubt there's anything wrong with your feeds. It's just very
unfortunate that it isn't working as well as it should and I sympathise
with those of you who rely on internet sales.
