GMail delivers your mail, but it is stopped by various Spam filters and blacklists if spam has been sent from GMail before. If you are so desperate to get your mail through, either complain to Google, to the admin/webmaster of the mail server you are trying to send your mail to, or to the maintainer of the filter/blacklist, as it is extremely irritating to hear you spreading false statements (not intentionally false, but false in that they do not tell all the facts, and are completely incorrect).

> OK, not quite like that. Well not really like that at all. But you get the picture. Your complaining about GMail "not delivering your mail" is completely false; it delivers your mail, and it is deleted on the threshold of the receiver. It is only Google's fault in that they use non-standard IP addresses in the message header (they put their server's address, not the sender's address). Gerard can explain this in more detail and more correctly than I can (unlucky Gerard - I've dumped it on you).

Thanks James, I always like getting dumped on.
For the most part, I do agree with Mr. Whitehead. Complaining to the
SPAM blacklisting services is a total waste of time. The specifications
that they are using have been in place for quite some time, are
prominently posted for system administrators to view and adhere to and
are used by thousands (hundreds of thousands ?) mail systems. I even
employ a few on my mail system.
Google is simply refusing to follow normal conventions in this matter
which is putting its customers in a seriously compromised situation. Not
very friendly in my opinion. If Microsoft had tried this strategy, all
hell would break loose from the MS detractors. However, since Google is
the new darling of the tech set, criticism has been suppressed.
Google will probably not change their policy until forced to. Therefore,
this is my suggestion for all those suffering from tyranny.
Forward all mail that was refused back to Google. Use as many of their
addresses as possible. Write a very detailed explanation as to why you
are doing this. Explain how unsatisfied you are with their GMail service
in this respect. Inform them that you would not recommend the service
to others until this problem is resolved. Go into detail how you intend
to write to their advertisers and complain about this annoyance and
potentially damaging consequences it might have on your career. Do this
for each and every email that is refused.
If Google gets swamped with enough negative feedback, as well as their
advertisers complaining about receiving negative email from Google's
GMail customers, I believe the pressure will cause Google to rethink its
policy.
As always, YMMV
