Google not finding sitemap or verification file

Hi

I have uploaded a number of xml sitemaps into my Google account, and
verified them all with no troubles, but I seam to be having problems
with one particular site.

The sitemap is located at: http://www.biz.org.nz/public/biz_sitemap.xml
The verification file is located at:
http://www.biz.org.nz/google9b3a64ac3b072790.html

But Google can't find anything, it just says that the files don't
exist. I have checked, double checked, and triple checked spelling and
paths. I have tried moving the xml sitemap to the root folder but that
didn't help.

There are some re-directs happing when a user first reaches the site
that directs them to the "public" folder. Would this be throwing Google
at all?
