is it possible to allow users to save Google Map results?

i'm trying to figure out if there is any way for a user to input
information, like say just a "from route a to route b" query, generate
a map, and then be able to save the resulting map with the markers as a
jpeg or something?

i've spent time on the map wiki and was able to write something that
would be able to grab individual tiles, but of course it stops short of
being able to grab markers in the right places. if i could get that
right, i could just use PHP form there on, but alas, i'm at my wits
end.

i figure it'd just be easier if users could just use the Google Map
application and save it themselves, or is printing/screen capturing the
only method for this?

i don't think this violates the TOS, since i'm not saving the data and
the end user is using like they would otherwise, but i just thought i
would ask here, since i've found a great deal of other useful
information.

if anyone can help (or knows of any similar programs/methods), it would
be a godsend
