Is there a way to request Google make street map data available?

Hi - I'd love to see street map data for New Zealand, like there is for
California, UK, etc.

Is there any method to ask Google to provide this, or at least if they
have any intention of providing this, or perhaps just do some good old
beggin and pleading?

hope this isn't a FAQ entry already, but i could not find one along
these lines.
