Parsing KML and importing to Google Maps

Hi,

I've searched these forums and found some things close to what I want
to do but not exactly.

I have a google map with markers/polylines etc. I was using XML as a
backend to store the information. I then created A KML file for Google
Earth with the same information. What I am looking for is a way to
load the KML information into the google maps.

I have read some vague things about using new GXmlHttp.create();

and I have read this thread.

If anybody could point me to a working example of this preferably
without using Cold Fusion or PERL that would be great.
