A lot of the information you requested is available on this board.
Looking back at the first post (Jun 29, 2:41 am), you'd see that this
was made to announce the API. Looking at the number of members on this
board (6793 as of this posting) will give you a pretty good idea as to
how many keys have been issued. I wouldn't say it's a one for one
relationship, but I'd bet it is very close.

As for the number of mashups, that number has to be in the 1000's at
least by now and growing every day. I doubt there is a comprehensive
list anywhere but you can check the mapki (http://mapki.com) for a
representitive sample of sites.
