Re: Why is there a necessity to submit your sitemap?

Google would like it pretty much if other engines implement the sitemap
protocol. That's why it's open source. Reread the anouncement. Putting
more stuff in the robots.txt is a very bad idea, think of all the bots
not able to parse the current standard properly when the file gets
abused with allow statements and similar crap - why confuse them even
more? How many engines are out there? I can submit 4 times manually
until we have a sitemaps.cfg standard or whatever. The place to define
such a road map to the sitemaps is the sitemaps protocol.
