mike is right, I would try to avaoid it.
Instead, open the infowindow by clicking but have soemthing in the
infowindow that does the zoom in via a link.
I do exactly this in my project.

Click the "Zoom Through" link in the Infowindow to zoom in on that
area.
This one is a point. in my system when you "Zoom Through" a point it
takes you to that point and a predefined zoom level

This one is a line - when you "Zoom Through" on a line, it takes you to
the END of the line and a predefined zoom level.
