Just so you can at least check your messages (figure out the problem later) i would use another computer.  You have a neighbors?  Work computer?  Internet cafe?  Try anything just so you can A) See if you have any important messages to respond to, and B) determine if its a problem with your account, computer, browser, or if its a Gmail system/server problem.  Hope that helps.

probably a browser problem.
