You don't say whether you have tried sending them another invite.

I've had problems where people signed up, but they didn't remember
exactly what they entered so they wound up with an account they
couldn't get back into.

Another option is to send the link to yourself and do the signup
yourself for them. I did this for my father as he's not terribly
computer literate, and was afraid he'd mess it up himself.
