Google Maps with clickable sidebar, categories and view the last added point

hi everybody,

i found geocodezips example located here:
http://www.geocodezip.com/MarkerCheckBoxes2.asp

its a map with a clickable sidebar that turns different markers on/off
and loads data from an xml file. i like to use this example but with
modifications:

1. show up all the added markers also in the sidebar - clickable like
in mikes example:
http://www.econym.demon.co.uk/googlemaps/examples/map2.htm

2. and i like to have a view only on the last added marker.

found nowhere an example like this. hope someone can help or give me an
example...
