[lug] Re: Printers
This started as Sasquatches problem, but if he doesn't mind, I'll add
my problem in with it. My wife's puter is shared. When I dual boot into
windows, I can print to it. In Linux, I can see her printer shared as
canon, but I can never get KDE/CUPS to recognize it.
I type "smbclient -L fozzie", with fozzie the name of her puter, and it
shows up. I have made sure CUPS is installed, and running. Now if I go
into Printing Manager in the Control Center, make sure CUPS is
searching the local network, and even the direct IP address of fozzie.
Nothing shows up. I then try to add a printer connected to a remote
computer, and it doesn't detect the printer type. Thus we come to the
driver issue again. It wants to know what printer it is. the iP series
is not listed. I try using the RAW (no driver), and test print.
Nothing.
