The FAQ should contain just the important stuff with links to more
information on other pages.

How about highlighting the really important things on the FAQs page?
The Wikipedia page that you point to for markup information doesn't
reveal the syntax for coloured text or backgrounds (I suppose they don't
want lots of people to overuse colour effects).
Or perhaps there could be a small graphic to highlight the important
stuff.
