I use Endsheet to create my sitemaps, and it works realy well.

If you have an option of using an xml file with the google sitemaps
schema, then that's your best bet. BTW: the sitmap should be located
in the root folder on your server. The deal with verifying is so
google knows they have the correct address. You create an empty html
file in your websites root folder and give it the name exactly as they
show it.
