Re: What's The Matter GMap Dev Team? We Don't Do Enough For You?

It seems to me that this massive change could be handled in a way that
won't break maps of people who use official API calls with little
trouble on the part of the mapping team. I see why they are doing this
and it is in the end a good thing.

What could be done is to put deprecated compnents into the key section
of the API and have a key option to include them or not. The default
would be to include them so nobody would be all of a sudden getting
calls from customers about broken maps.

Then, when normal maintenance or upgrades to a map is being done, these
new features could be added while the old ones removed, then the
indicator on the key could be changed to drop the deprecated features.

This would leave the Google Local system using the most up to date and
slim stuff while allowing people not paying attention or time
constrained to live their lives without fear.

I have a good feeling that the communication problem is going to be
ending very shortly. If everyone would just be a little patient and not
panic, things will get better in that regard.
