Basic Map Creation Help

Hello. I am very interested in creating a map for my site. I have
viewed several tutorials as well as the google documentation, none of
which seem to be for the beginner. I was hoping some generous person
out there would be possibly willing to share some help with me on this.
I just need some basic help getting started and I think I could run
with it. Sorry to be a bother, but I think this would be a perfect
addition to my site.
