New To API/Beginner Questions

I was wondering how complicated getting a map going on my site will be. I
am creating a church website and would like to create a world Map with
markers where each of the supporting missionaries were serving. I would
like to be able to link each of these markers to a separate info page for
these missionaries. I have seen this done on other pages, but have never
attempted it myself. Is this extremely difficult to do without much
programming knowledge, or is it something relatively simple? Thanks in
