AdWords API Re: Getting report data for timezones other than Los Angeles time
Hmm... ...so how can data from pay-per-click reports generated via the
AdWords API be reconciled with the corresponding data logged by the web
server to which the AdWords keywords link, in cases where the latter
web server operates in a time zone other than PST? It seems that the
data from the two different sources will be out of synchronization by
some fraction of a day according to how much ahead or behind PST is the
time zone in which the web server is operating.
For example, suppose that I am managing an AdWords campaign for
London-hosted www.foobar.com, and suppose that the www.foobar.com
server logs show that I had 100,000 visitors yesterday, i.e. on 4th
December 2005, GMT. When I try to get a corresponding AdWords report,
the best that I can do is to ask for data for 4th December 2005, but
knowing that the data that I get back will pertain to a period whose
start and end times are 8 hours earlier than I want.
Given that there are three time zones other than PST within the U.S.,
presumably lots of U.S. sites are similarly unable to accurately
reconcile the data from their web server logs with the AdWords reports.
Isn't the solution to modify the AdWords API to fully honour the hours,
minutes and seconds components of the start and end times for reports?
Regards,
Ian
