[Google-Desktop] You can't always get what you want...
But maybe Google will see this and give me it anyway :)
1) I want to hotkey the deskbar to ctrl-g, which is my hotkey for that
other deskbar (see http://toolbar.google.com/deskbar/)
2) If my deskbar search ends in .exe... attempt to run an executable
file. If there is more than one executable file with the same name,
alert me. Also, allow me to set up "exe aliases;" i.e., allowing me to
type wmp.exe to access wmplayer.exe. This can be done, for example, by
creating a folder of shortcut names that the deskbar searches first for
executables to run (if the search ends in .exe).
3) If .exe "searches" allowed for arguments, that'd be even better :)
4) I'm not sure how useful this would be, but keeping track of multiple
searches of the same item and greying out or diminishing in some way
results that are never or rarely clicked might save a lazy searcher the
trouble of having to be more specific in his search.
5) Add a phonetic alert rather than, or in addition to, the lower right
alert for new email, news, etc. This would help prevent users from
losing focus on their current task by being directed to the lower right
of the screen every time a new event shows up. Perhaps also adding a
disable-able option to remind them, with a slightly different message,
every 15 minutes or so, would be sweet, too. Eventually, via a plugin
or something, you could assign sound files to certain alerts.
The only ones I really care about are 1,2, and 3.
