How many decimals?
Now Google Maps API is returning coordinates by six decimal accuracy
which is quite reasonable. Originally they did it with 14 decimals
which is the JavaScript limit. What do those mean on earth?
Six decimals (10 cm) is good for guide maps - I think.
Earth around is slightly less than 40 000 km. That by 360 degrees is
around 100 kilometers. That in 14 decimals is one millionth of a
millimeter. It means that some of you (us) been trying to point an
individual asshair of an ameba.
Some of us been trying to point something with 20 decimals. Electron is
a moving object as ameba.
You dont have to tell people which side of the restaurant door is the
handle side and which one is the hinge side!
