I would start by optimising the mage you have on the frontpage

Making up a basic sitemap is not that difficult and Google provides an
example on
http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/docs/en/protocol.html

Make sure you copy the example from the "Sample XML Sitemap" not the
"XML Sitemap Format" section as the "XML Sitemap Format" section
example is wrong - thanks for not fixing this yet Google!

If you don't want to do that the text sitemap looks fine

What were the "problems" you had with the text sitemap?
