Thanks, I will fix that. Since I had no sidebar contents, I tried to
disable it.
Then I tried to put it back to avoid problems like this. Obviously
that fear
was well-founded! :-)

Are there any Mac browsers that allow breakpointing and singlestepping
of Javascript ?
(I've been programming for decades, but not in Javascript.)
