rid of my previous index?"
Assuming you've already uninstalled Google Desktop Search normally
(Add/Remove programs, etc):
Check for the following folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Google\Google Desktop.
Thats where your index is stored. If you have a folder there, take a
big sigh and delete it. If you're stubborn like me, back it up and
delete the folder in the hopeless chance it'll be recoverable in the
future (can't let go of those chat messages from 05 ;). Instructions
here: http://desktop.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13799
Cross fingers and download the latest and greatest from desktop
homepage. (should be ~20051208).
Solar power thing is very cool btw. Hope they devise a better way to
efficiently store this energy, here in California they're looking into
pushing through more solar power incentives for homeowners. Anyways, I
digress..
The norton thing, I have no idea. If GDS is fully uninstalled, the
files in question are already in the trash bin, and norton wants to
delete it; Caveat Emptor... My intution is that it'll definitely not
hurt GDS for sure. Not sure what effect it'll have on your system
though. <grin>. You sure that's not part of the M$ program?
Limited experience with OE, but if your index was corrupted, you
probably never finished initial indexing - and all your mail wouldnt
get indexed, so there's hope there.
