You'll spend some time on this one depending on your luck and your
printer.

There is a very very good chance that one of the drivers included with
Ubuntu will work well with your printer. That being said you have a
needle in a haystack chance of finding it unless you found someone
using ubuntu and your printer who got it working.

Your easiest solution is to setup the printer on a Win2k or Win3k box
where you have some ease of configuration and tweaking, then attach the
printer to your linux network via samba. You know doing it this within
an hour you'll have a working printer, and you can usually find a spare
windows pc that has room for a printer.

What (if any) discernable markings do you have on the printer, and what
does a w2k or w3k workstation see it as?
