In Midnight Commander you can hit f9 and select Undelete Files (ext2fs
only)

You need to copy the files to another drive on you machine then or you
will over write the inodes which you are recovering.

write your self a script to do a "file $filename" on each recovered
file to determine what type it is as the names will be lost.
