Meta-topic -- Slow google sign-in?

I've used the vanilla Google screen as my home-page for years. I've
noticed in the last few days, today especially, that when I leave
myself signed in, it takes EXTREMELY long to load (I use firefox). The
FF progress bar goes halfway across and stops, for minutes. I had
personalized it, and thought that was the problem, but even the default
Google screen is slow when I keep myself signed in and Google as my
homepage.

Is this just me?
