Re: state boundary polygons for sql import

does running the data within line strings for doing a contains query
work as well as a polygon/geometry collection? would it run more
accurate or does it still run into the same limitations as the
polygon/MBR restriction? I am running at level 4 zoom so I am not
trying to get to horribly accurated.

I have been using polygon information from FME that another GMap user
has been nice enough to help me out. I have the 6,000 points that make
up the state of TX boundaries, but I noticed that the panhandle of TX
was being cut off due to the MBR restriction within MySQL. My Most
current try is going to be doing a GeometryCollection of Polygons.

Thoughts beyond this? Have others been able to get a better solution to
work with MySQL? I really don't want to have to move to PosGIS to make
this work. It would really bum me out to move back to such an admin
unfriendly environment and the thought of using two databases really
doesn't interest me. Moving entirely from MySQL is unthinkable at this
point so mitigation means using two databases instead. BAH!

Thanks for the information so far.

Darren
